Yesterday was dimanche (Sunday) and we attended a small protestant church of about 25 people. Luckily the visiting minister spoke English. Dave was asked to do the reading in English which they also read in French. For our benefit, the minister also gave a short synopsis of the sermon in English. While there we met Cathy and Dave from Wales who vacation in the summer in Larmor-Baden, a small village south of here on the gulf. They invited us to join them and their friends for Bastille Day activities in their small village. The evening consisted of eating, Meghan winning a stuffed bear at the pellet gun game and going for coffee at the local cafe. Cathy had never tried cotton candy so we coerced her into trying Meghan's. She asked in her British accent, " How much sugar do you think is in that candy?" I told her she didn't want to know. About 11:30 p.m. the fireworks began as everyone waited in almost total silence. Cathy, who is from Pennsylvania commented that in America it would be much noisier. Just one of the differences in our new culture here.
