CHRISTMAS IN KENTUCKY
We traveled to Kentucky for several days after Christmas to spend time with Dave's family. The day after Christmas it was in the high 50's in Richmond, Kentucky. Having the screen porch door open while we opened presents made us feel like we skipped winter and went right to spring.
Uncle Lou is a lot like his brother Dave in looks and sense of humor! He humored us with this barking dog that his wife, Suzanne, received as a white elephant gift. The dog barks Christmas carols activated by your hand movements. We told him not to quit his day job!
Cousin Lauren serenades us while the rest of us sit lazily around after a lasagna dinner. Lauren, a freshman in high school, is looking quite French in her scarf and hat. She made us feel like we were still in France.
A Garriott tradition is for the grandkids to select their favorite ornament off of Granmuny's tree each year. After careful consideration, Meghan selected a hand made ornament made by her grandfather's former boss's wife.
Another one of my favorite traditions is the "made to order omelettes" prepared by Dave and his older brother, Lou. Dave wanted you to know they also make fried potatoes, sausage and toast. You know how the husbands need to get their credit! Each of us put in our special order, sit back and relax and then get served like a queen or king!
Granmuny was quite excited about her handmade Kentucky quilt! We were the highest bidder at our neighbor's company's auction that benefits a charity. Thanks Vance for remembering that the Garriott's love U.K.!
