CATCHING UP

Since it has been raining off and on the last few days I am taking advantage of this time to update you on our lives since we have returned from vacation. Meghan is now signed up for trumpet lessons on Wednesdays after school. Music is not part of the school day so she will be taking lessons at the Music Conservatory. She will have a half hour private lesson each week and then the trumpet group plays together for an hour. Meghan has played for three years at CFI so she did not want to fall behind. At the registration meeting, we sat in an hour meeting while everyone was speaking French. My new friend Anne-Elisabeth, and her daughter Auriane, were a great help in letting us know what was being discussed.
Here's a picure of the drain pipe outside the conservatory. This gives you an idea of how much it's been raining!

Our new friends from church, Dominique, Claire, Manon, Erwan and the dog Uppie. They were so kind to invite us to their home after church and we spent several hours just chatting and learning about their family and sharing stories. Claire, the mom is from Holland and Dominique is a police officer here in Vannes. We'll make sure not to speed while we are on our bikes. Ha! Erwan is 18 and just left home to attend a university in France. He and Dave had much to talk about since he will be studying logistics at school. Manon, who is 13, is attending the same school as Meghan but not in the same grade. They hope to learn English and French from each other.
The family was fluent in English so we were able to communicate with no problem.

Meghan had been riding my mountain bike which was too big for her so we decided to buy her a new bike. She had outgrown her other bike at home just before we left for France. Before school started we enjoyed riding our bikes along the gulf in the morning. As you can see it is low tide. If you click on the picture you can see her little doggy on her helmet.
