Dave and I had a date night last night! Meghan was invited to an overnight, so we took advantage of being child free and strolled to an outdoor cafe. It was a relaxing evening as we spent over 3 hours talking and enjoying our dinner. The French dinner typically last 2 to 3 hours. As you can see, Dave is very serious about his mussels a traditional Brittany first course cooked in white wine, shallotts, onions, and parsley. I had fish soup, followed by duck for the main entree. The dinner included dessert which we selected creme brulee. The dinner was tres bien! We justified getting dessert since we are walking everywhere and it's 85 steps up to our apartment from the basement.

Strolling home from our evening, I couldn't resist capturing this picture of another typical outdoor cafe in Vannes.

Susie's first french haircut!! Have you ever tried to get your haircut and not be able to speak the language? My dictionary came in handy again and the coiffeur, Marie, used her pictures of hairstyles to communicate. At one point she picked up my dictionary to tell me my hair was e'pais (thick). I was there an hour and a half and they really pampered me. I'm not sure if it was because I was an American or they take this much time with everyone. I'm not complaining, it was a treat!

So back by ten thirty and the movers arrived with our packages from Indy. The movers were glad there was an elevator to use.We are all three making a habit of using the stairs to help with burning those extra calories. All of our bikes are now here so we are planning to do some site seeing by bicycle this weekend.

Dave is VERY excited that the peanut butter is here! We bought one small 12 oz. jar when we first arrived and paid 4.52 euro. We figured out that the 10 - 18oz. jars of Jif would have cost us $120 to buy them here. Peanut butter is hard to find here and very expensive when you do find it. Thanks Heidi for giving us heads up on the peanut butter.
