SUNNY, SUNNY DAY!

Yesterday after walking with Meghan to school, Anne-Elizabeth and I ran some errands and then headed to Arradon, a village on the gulf. We had to be back by noon because the girls had a half day of school today. Each Wednesday they rotate between a half day or no school at all.

Speaking of school, several of you have asked how Meghan is doing in an all French speaking school. Let's just say it's challenging! She has a wonderful homeroom teacher who speaks English who met with Dave and I and Meghan on Monday to see what could be done to make her life less stressful at school. She will now be getting two additional hours of French tutoring at school along with the one hour on Thursdays at home. Madame Cherel said she would talk to the other teachers and try to get the homework and translate it for Meghan so she knows what she is supposed to do. We all know Meghan does not give up easily so hopefully this trait can be used to her advantage at school. She enjoyed her first trumpet lesson today and really enjoys her teacher, Mr. Schaeffer. What a fun loving man with a great personality. He told Meghan she was a crazy American!
While walking along the gulf we stopped for this photo taken by a man on his bike from Belgium. He and Anne-Elisabeth chatted in French for awhile as I listened wondering what they were saying. I am so blessed to have met a good friend who speaks both English and French. She is helping me each day to learn a little more French but now if I can just remember the phrases the next day!
Right on the gulf sits a beautiful monastary and this chapel. If you were standing at the front door looking out you would be viewing the gulf. A friend of mine calls the monastery a "Club Med" for the monks with such beautiful surroundings and views.

The water was excetionally blue yesterday. Sometimes it has more of a greenish tint depending on the tides. Anne-Elisabeth explained that the tides are at the highest yesterday and today and that is why the water it so blue. The tide was just starting to recede as we were leaving so we decided to come back another time to do some shelling. We have been fortunate with no rain since Saturday and yesterday it was in the 60's.

Susie, your pictures are such a wonderful way to see France as you are experiencing it. The pictures of the base of the trees, pulls you into it and makes you want to go for a stroll down the allee'. But, I can't thank you and Dave enough for taking pictures of the FOOD!! Plate presentation is wonderful. I want you to continue your food adventures with great pictures. Yum.. The baby bassinett, was very unusual; that had to take a lot of time. I think you guys will never have to worry about gaining an ounce, the walking and riding everywhere; you are probably losing weight! love to all,amy
