One of the cities on our list to see was the famous city of Arles, where Vincent Van Gogh painted over 200 canvases and drawings. This is the site of the original painting" Cafe Terrace at Night" which Van Gogh painted in mid September of 1888. The site was refurbished in 1990/1991 to look exactly as seen in his original picture. A delivery truck was parked in front of the cafe so I was not able to take the photo from the angle of Van Gogh's original painting.

The Arena of Arles, is among the most ancient of the Roman world. The size of the ellipse is 136 meters long and 107 high. The arena is able to hold 24,ooo spectators. Beginning in 1825 it was restored.

According to some, the theatre was built around 30 B.C. and others say between 20 and 15 B.C. In any case it was built during the times of Augustus and it is VERY OLD. In the 5th century the stones were used as building materials for churches, private homes, and defensive walls.

As I mentioned before, the French don't celebrate Halloween. Looks like Meghan is displaying her costume in hopes of some Reese Cups.

Can't you just imagine Van Gogh sitting here painting the colors of these buildings?
