HOLDING HANDS IN THE SAND

Sunshine, sand, the sea and our shadows. Bicycling in Holland was our original plan for this past week off from school, but about a week before we were to leave, the weather reports predicted rain, wind and cool weather. So I went to weather.com to check out the weather for southern France and it was much more promising. The predictions were accurate, well at least the first three days and then...........
After a full day of driving we stopped for the night in Valence, France. After asking what restaurants were nearby and open we were recommended the Buffalo Grill. Now that would not be my first choice but I was not going to get picky at 9 p.m. and after a full day in the car. What a cultural shock! We have been in quiet French cafes for 4 months and this was our first noisy, loud music, American chain restaurant. It took me several minutes to get adjusted to the noise level and bustling activity. Meghan was very excited with the menu and the movie style popcorn and the "Miami" kids drink.

The Camargue Regional Nature Park is an enormous area of about 800 kilometres that lies between the two arms of the Rhone and the sea, and is occupied in the middle by the immense marsh of Vaccares. From any point of view this huge flat territory is an incredible zoological and botanical reserve. It is one of the largest and most important migratory stops in Europe. The pink flamingos are an integral part of the landscape of the Camargue. Click on the picture to get a closer look. If I only had a larger ZOOM.
Linda our friend from Indy spent a week with us earlier this month and continued biking for two weeks east of Vannes in the Loire Valley area. Linda biked to the town of Bourges where we met her at the tourist office and we were blessed with her company for the week. She took this family photo of us enjoying a Sunday afternoon walk along the beach and catching some rays. Notice: NO coats, NO hats, NO gloves

The weather was just as they predicted on Sunday with high in the low 70's. Meghan and I enjoyed a dip in the heated pool at the campground before dinner. Camping the first two nights with temperatures in the 50's at night made for great sleeping. But that will change......

Dave, Meghan and I holding hands on the beach along the Mediterranean sea in Saintes- Maries- De -La- Mer in the very southern part of France in the Provence area. Which one of us do you think took the picture?

1 John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

If you only knew that it has been sunny and in the 70's for the past 5 days in Indianapolis. We're getting our Indian summer. It was hot for Halloween and people had the choice to walk or bike to the election polls yesterday.

Susie,

This is Phyllis Fleming. From the pictures, it looks like you are having a great time. I will look more often. I have all but the last two Daniel dvds back now. Which ones do you need? Can you check your book and see which lectures you have already seen? Or -- do you want the whole set for a review?
